Dear Friends,
The State Controller’s Office is one of the least visible constitutional offices in Idaho, but at the same time, it is one of the most important. My office pays all of the bills, keeps track of every penny of the people’s money, and makes payroll for about 25,000 state employees.
To make all of this work smoothly, as it has been doing, you need a State Controller with proven business experience, and one with a track record of success. I have more than 30 years of experience as a successful business owner.
You need someone who knows how state government works, and understands the intricacies of government operations, and who is committed to serving the people of Idaho. I served twelve years in the state legislature, and for eight years, I ran the Idaho Real Estate Commission. And for nearly the past four years, I have done an outstanding job of being your State Controller.
I’ve worked to reduce the cost of running my office – even before Idaho hit this financial crisis. I’ve reduced our staffing levels, while increasing the services we provide to state agencies and the public, with less money. And I’ve taken steps to improve the transparency of state government finances. It’s your money, and you deserve to know where it is spent.
Your vote in this election is important, because while I have accomplished much since you last elected me, my work is far from done. We need a steady hand on Idaho’s financial tiller to help guide our state through this storm. I have proven to you that I have that steady hand. We need a visionary leader who can partner with other state agencies to help save your tax dollars. I have been doing this for almost four years, but there is still money to be saved, and more efficiencies to be gained.
Nearly four years ago, Idahoans cast a total of 324,838 votes when you elected me to serve as Idaho’s State Controller. I was grateful for your support then, and I ask you to once again please vote for me on November 2nd.
Thank you and God Bless!

Donna M. Jones
Idaho State Controller
